Yam n Blackeye Pea Gravy


Wonderful Side Dish For Roti n Rice...


yam 1/2 kg
black eye pea 1 1/2 cup
onion 1 large
tomato 1 big
garlic 5 - 6 cloves crushed
chilli pow 1 tbsp
corriander pow 1 tbsp
turmeric pow 1 tsp
salt to taste
tamarind marble size


oil 1 tbsp
mustard seeds 1 tsp
curry leaves few


Soak and extract the juice from the tamarind.

Chop the veggies loke shown below.

Pressure cook the black eye pea in the salted water.

Once the peas are cooked add the chopped veggies, salt, chilli, corriander n turmeric pow and mix well.

Cook it till the yam is easily mashed and the water is reduced and the gravy has reached a thick form.
Then add the tamarind juice to this.

Let it cook for few more minutes.

Once the gravy is done add oil in a seasoning laddle and add mustard seeds n let it splutter.

Then the curry leaves.

Add the seasoning to the gravy.

Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
