1 Pot Mutton Gravy |Instant Pot Mutton Curry | 2 in 1 Mutton Curry

Want to make an easy and fuss free mutton gravy? Here is a recipe for the easy and tasty 1 pot mutton gravy that can be made in your stovetop pressure cooker or an instant pot. 
With this recipe the mutton is so juicy and flavourful with the basic yet better ingredients. The succulent mutton pieces are so soft and tender and is cooked in a tomato onion based sauce with some lovely aromatic spices to make a great tastung curry. 
This recipe is a 2 in 1 as the same recipe can be followed to make a mutton kurma with an addition of coconut or cashew paste in the end. Either way the the mutton will be cooked to a perfection and the curry tastes amazing with the perfect combination of spices. 

INGREDIENTS 

1 kg mutton, medium sized piece
3 onion, chopped
4 tomatoes, chopped
2 inch crushed or 1½ tbsp paste
8 cloves garlic crushed or 1½ tbsp paste 
Few curry leaves 
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tbsp corriander powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp garam masala
1 tsp pepper powder  
1½ tbsp madras curry powder or mutton masala or your choice
Salt to taste
1 cup water
corriander leaves for garnishing

METHOD

In a presseure cooker or instant pot (saute mode) add the oil then the chopped onion to it and saute till the onions are slightly soft.

Next add in the crushed ginger and garlic and saute till the raw smell leaves. 

Now add the tomatoes, curry leaves and saute till they start to become mushy, add the cleaned mutton and fry until the mutton changes in color abd becomes pale. 

Now add the spices chilli powder, corriander powder, turmeric, salt, pepper powder, madras curry powder and garam masala powder.

Give it a nice mix and saute till the spices get combined with the mutton pieces.

Add the water and switch off the saute mode in instant pot and switch on pressure cook mode and preassure cook for 15 mins high pressure in instant pot and 5 - 6 whistles in stove top pressure cooker.

Once the cooking is done quick release the pressure by venting it. 

Once the pressure is down remove the lid and switch on the heat back in stovetop cooker and saute mode in instant pot and let it boil till the gravy is thickened to your preference. Approx 5-10 mins. 

Transfer to the serving bowl and serve with steamed rice or roti.
