Instant Bread Vada

Crispy crunchy vada with the addition of onions, chillies and ginger is a total yum but many of us buy it from a shop often rather than making it at home. We try to avoid the mess of soaking the dal and then grinding it and blah blah blah...
But just imagine you have a crave for some crispy vada with your tea or coffee. Its highly impossible to make vada instantly. But its easy and takes no grinding to make this vada which is equally crispy to the regular vada.
The ingredients used are very common at most of our household. This can be put together in no time and you can enjoy the taste of crispy vada with you family.

INGREDIENTS

4 slice bread
½ cup rava/sooji
1 onion chopped
3-4 green chilli chopped
1 inch ginger chopped
Few curry leaves
½ tsp asafoetida
Salt to taste
Water as required
Oil for deep frying

METHOD

Chop the bread slices roughly and add it to a mixing bowl.

Add enough water to make a soft dough out of the bread. Do not add more water, approximately ½ cup to ¾ cup.

Add the rava/sooji, chopped onions, chilli, ginger, curry leaves, asafoetida and salt to taste and give it a nice mix.

The dough will thicken after adding the rava/sooji, so adjust the water accordingly to achieve a soft and stiff dough.

Heat up the pan with oil for deep frying on a medium heat.

Take a small ball of the dough and form it into the shape of vada or balls and keep aside in a plate until the oil is heated enough.

Add the prepared vadas into the oil in batches and fry it until it is golden brown in color.

Remove from the oil and drain it in a paper towel.

Serve hot with your favourite sauce or chutney and hot coffee or tea.

Enjoy!!!
