Quinoa & Millet Dumpling | Quinoa & Millet Kozhukattai

Wondering what to make for the evening tiffen or morning breakfast? As many of us are you also thinming to add the super grains in your diet once in a while to satisfy the inner health craving devil 👿?
The answer is here with this double super grain combo dumpling which is make with the millet and quinoa. This can either be consumed as an upma or make it more easy to eat or a different way of presentation which is make by shaping the upma into an dumpling and steam it for a bit.
Kids love to take a piece and run away as you dont need to make them sit at a table a eat it with a spoon. This is basically like a finger food which is way too healthier and super filling too.

INGREDIENTS

Tempering
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp mustard

1 onion, chopped
4-5 green chillies, chopped
Few curry leaves, chopped
Salt to taste

½ cup millet of your choice, soaked
½ cup quinoa, soaked
3 cups water

½ cup shredded coconut

METHOD

Heat a pressure cooker or instant pot and add the oil, mustard and cumins seeds to it, let it splutter.

Next add in the chopped onions and green chillies along with the curry leaves. And fry until the onions are translucent.

Add in the soaked and drained millet and quinoa to the pot and fry for a minute.

Add in the water and cook for 3-5 whistles in stovetop pressure cooker or 10 mins high pressure in instant pot.

Let the pressure release naturally.

Open the pot and give it a nice mix. (this can be consumed now in the form of upma, there is one more step for the dumpling)

Add in the shredded coconut and give it a mix. Set aside for 10 to 15 minutes or until its cool enough to handle.

Once its cool enough take a small ball of the upma and form it into a cylindrical ball and do the same to all the upma.

Arrange the balls in a steamer basket or even idly plates work. After arranging steam these balls for 10-12 minutes.

Once the steaming is done remove and serve hot with some Spicy Garlic Chutney

Enjoy!!!
