INGREDIENTS

1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tsp caraway seeds
3 tbsp coriander seeds
1 dry red chilli

5 cloves garlic
1 small piece ginger

2 tbsp chilli powder
2 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1½ tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp oil
Water as required

Oil for shallow frying

1 kg fish pieces

METHOD

Using a pounder pound and crush the cumin, caraway, dry red chilli and coriander seeds to a coarse powder.

Crush the ginger and garlic into a coarse mixture.

Add this crushed powder to a bowl and add the chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, vinegar, salt and oil along with the crushed ginger and garlic.

Give it a nice mix so all the ingredients are combined well.

Add enough water to make a semi thick paste.

Add 3 to 4 tbsp of this paste to the fish pieces and using your hand mix the masala into the fish pices. Make sure that all the pieces are covered with the masala.

Let the fish pieces marinate for atleast an hour or overnight. The more the better.

When frying heat 4-5 tbsp of oil to a frying pan on medium high heat and add enough fish pieces to the pan, make sure that you dont overcrowd the pan.

Fry the pieces for 4 to 5 mins on each side or until each side is golden brown in color and crispy.

Once all the sides are fried well to your liking, remove the pieces carefully to a paper towel lined plate and serve it hot with slices of onions and lemon wedges.
